Pittsburgh Football Sunday Pasta Salad

I created this pasta salad when I needed something to bring to a football party and didnt have time to go to the store. Since then, its become a staple Every bite is always eaten Use whatever type of pasta you like. I like to mix varieties together.

Pittsburgh Football Sunday Pasta Salad Ingredients

  • 1? pounds uncooked penne pasta

  • ? cup light mayonnaise

  • 1 (8 ounce) bottle Italian-style salad dressing

  • teaspoon Italian seasoning, or to taste

  • teaspoon garlic powder, or to taste

  • teaspoon cayenne pepper, or to taste

  • salt and ground black pepper to taste

  • (12 ounce) package broccoli coleslaw mix

  • 2 Roma tomatoes, diced

  • 1 cucumber, diced

  • 1 (3 ounce) can tuna, drained

  • cup shredded Cheddar cheese

  • cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese

  • 2 green onions, chopped

How to Make Pittsburgh Football Sunday Pasta Salad

  1. Fill a large pot with lightly salted water and bring to a rolling boil over high heat. Once the water is boiling, stir in the penne, and return to a boil. Cook the pasta uncovered, stirring occasionally, until the pasta has cooked through, but is still firm to the bite, about 11 minutes. Drain well in a colander set in the sink. Rinse with cold water to stop the cooking process.

  2. Combine the mayonnaise, salad dressing, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper in a blender; blend until completely mixed.

  3. Place the coleslaw mix, tomatoes, cucumber, tuna, Cheddar cheese, Monterey Jack cheese, green onions, and the cooked pasta in a large bowl; pour mayonnaise mixture into the bowl; toss to coat. Serve cold.

Pittsburgh Football Sunday Pasta Salad Reviews

  • Very tasty pasta salad Used shells and macaroni and added 1/3 cup of sour cream also and 2 packs of Splenda. Im sure it would be good with some crumbled bacon, but wouldnt be as healthy. I also add a fresh chopped de-seeded jalapeno for more warmth. I think it could use maybe another can of tuna too. I would definitely make it again though.

  • The pasta was very good. I used whole wheat pasta but that was the only difference. Godd pasta but is missing the WOW factor.Would make again though.

  • GO STEELERS

  • Good summer pasta dish. My son really enjoyed it. My husband and I think it needs something, but cant quite figure out what that is. I took it to a ladies dinner at church and it was well received. Thanks for sharing your recipe.

  • I really enjoyed this pasta I left out the Italian seasoning (I cannot stand oregano), and used paprika instead of cayenne pepper. I also used diced chicken instead of tuna since no one in my family but me will eat tuna. I thought it turned out great I will definitely be making this again

  • This recipe is awesome I used Kraft Zesty Italian Dressing and now it definitely has a wow factor

  • Just as good if not better without the broccoli slaw.
